[she is extremely shaken after that death. but totally open to chatting, ofc.

Find her near the fireplace, staring into the flames]

[ Yeah, that death was... not great for any of them, especially given that he said that it's "his win". That grin was not good, not to mention that Cinque was crying and crying and she could not honestly take it--

She doesn't want to think about it.

So she just takes this as a distraction. This is fine. ]

Y- ... Yo. [ SHE'S TRYING. ]

[justfists]

Oh, Inaba.

Would you like to join me?

[she snaps a calm smile on]

[dereban]

Sure. I wanted to talk, anyway. About... what happened during the trial, a little bit. If you want to.

[justfists]

Oh...

[her face drops a little bit at that, and she pulls her knees into her chest.]

Of course.

[dereban]

I'm. . . not going to say anything about the whole. [ hand gestures ] Thing about the Barghest reveal since I've already talked Kurusu's ear off about that. But I did want to apologize for looking suspicious during the trial, and ah--

[ He hesitates for a moment and then gives her a more serious look. ]

I want to work with you guys to stop all of this. If you'll trust me.

[justfists]

[she pauses, and smiles at the offer.]

... You should talk his ear off more, though, honestly, it was my fault. So perhaps your ire should be directed at me. I ended up coming off way too suspicious, and in a moment of weakness, admitted knowledge I shouldn't have.

But... Of course. I want all of us to work together as much as possible, to save the possessed.

[dereban]

He already got what he deserved, but I'm more concerned about him than I am mad at anyone, really, and more importantly... I think I can actually trust you guys.

Since I have a role, too.

[justfists]

[she looks-- well. extremely surprised, and in fact turns more fully towards Inaba]

Admitting that's extremely dangerous.

[dereban]

I know. I'm very aware of it. But we're playing a dangerous game already, and there's no way that I could possibly guarantee that anybody is safe unless they're already dead. It's a risky move on my part, sure, but I won't sit around either.

Especially not when everyone else is trying so hard.

I don't usually put my trust in people easily, and I know this could end up backfiring on me, but I want to think that this is the right choice.

[justfists]

Inaba...

Thank you.

[she looks a little relieved that she'd trust her, and smiles.]

We need to work together, somehow. If we're all on the same page, there isn't a chance the monsters can hide.

And more importantly, we need to figure out what the right way to free those possessed is.

[dereban]

You're welcome. Don't make me regret telling you this.

[ There's a small, but sad smile. ]

We fucked up this time, but there's a silver lining. I'm going to see if I can't ask the staff for some books to research... and I've been keeping in close contact with the Apprentice, too. Seems like a lot of shit is gonna go down tomorrow.

He's a good person. I... know we can trust him.

[she says that more firmly at the end. and then locks eyes with Inaba]

Did you discuss strategy with Akira? How you can work together?

[dereban]

I know. He trusted me enough to tell me... a lot, so I know.

We talked a little bit yesterday, mostly about how my role worked, really.

[ and that conversation is somewhat ongoing so shrugs!! ]

[justfists]

[she pauses, and then asks,]

Have you told anyone what your role is specifically yet?

[dereban]

I've only told Kurusu the specifics. Th
Besides him, I've only told one other person that's alive about it.

[justfists]

[she nods, and then says firmly]

Good. Don't put yourself in danger like he did. We're still going to be recovering from that-- if he isn't a top target for next week.

But since you're trustworthy... I'd really like to know what your sense is on the other townspeople are.

[she pauses.]

... We can move to my room, if you'd like.

[dereban]

I'm not going to throw myself into the wolves. I'd like to think I have more sensibility than that. It's why I've only told a few people in the first place.

[ She's trying this new thing called attempting to trust others?? It's hard. ]

Yeah, inside your room would be for the best. [ To continue this conversation. ] Lead the way.

[makoto understands, she only recently did that herself.

but for now, she stands up, and starts to lead the way to her room.]

I hope that was part of your lecture to Akira.

[dereban]

I didn't really lecture him, though honestly I probably should have done it more. I can't believe I have to keep a "X days since Kurusu did something reckless" timer now. It's that bad.

[ Nevertheless, she is following, keeping herself quiet even though she is dunking him really hard right now. ]

[no that just means Makoto needs to pinch him again, nbd. She's got it. She just wants to make sure she's not over punishing him!

Still, she gets to her room, and then waits for Inaba to come in before closing it.

It's not actually that surprising.

But hopefully we can talk more openly here.

[ He deserves every last bit of dunking... sorry, Akira, she's on Makoto's side here. Once she's inside, however, she immediately zones in towards the nearest chair and sits on it completely straight as a stick. ]

So we wanted to talk about everyone else here, right? Who did you want to start with?

[justfists]

What do you think about Owain, and Rean?

[she sits on the bed]

[dereban]

Owain is pretty weird, but I haven't really talked to him that much? Like, his profile described him essentially as a chuunibyou. . . Rean, on the other hand, he seems nice. He gives me a similar vibe to some of the guys but he's less reckless as far as I could tell.

Apparently Rean's from a world where they have English and Japanese writing, but there's no Japan or anything like that. He also checked up on me after I collapsed on Thursday... and on Saturday, too. We ended up talking about the basics of mafia on Saturday, actually.

[justfists]

Hmm... I see.

[she considers that answer.]

I like Owain a lot, but he has said some things that don't add up. But they could be coincidences, and he's completely sincere.

However, we've seen today that sincerity is harder to measure than we thought...

Rean I could just be reading too much into. He's overly cautious but, who wouldn't be in this game?
